5 Lifetime and thermal behavior

5.1 Flux as a function of temperature

The following diagram shows the behavior of the ﬂ ux output

over the t

point temperature for Prevaled Core Z3.

5.2 Lifetime

OSRAM PrevaLED

Core Z3 modules have a lifetime of

50 000 hours (L

) at a t

point temperature of 65 °C. This

means that after 50 000 hours, over 50 % of the used modu-

les will have more than 70 % of the initial luminous ﬂ ux. If you

operate the module at a lower t

point temperature, the life-

time of the module is going to rise signiﬁ cantly.

Note: Higher t

temperatures lead to a shorter lifetime of the

PrevaLED

Core Z3 LED modules. Moreover, the failure rate

will also increase.
